My Story

I have been a composer, performer, and teacher of the Great Highland Bagpipe for over 15 years and in that time have travelled the world playing throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. I have had the pleasure of performing with The Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland, The National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland, and Galician piper Carlos Núñez. I have also won many solo piping awards at competitions in both Northern Ireland and Scotland such as The Highlands and Islands Young Piper of the YearThe Young Player of the Year and the All Ireland Open Piobaireachd.

All Ireland Solo Champion

Where did you learn the bagpipes?!

I started at school with the late Freddy Russell.  He passed away about 18 months after I started and from there I had many different tutors and mentors that helped me, including Roddy MacLeod MBE.

Have you played with any pipe bands?

I have played with both Bleary and District Pipe Band and Cullybackey Pipe Band in Grade 1.  I have also played with and helped to teach Ballyboley Pipe Band and Major Sinclair Memorial Pipe Band.

What has been your favourite moment so far?

There have been many highlights, too many to list, but one which stands out was the invitation to play for and meet then US President Barrack Obama for the St. Patrick's Day celebrations in the White House.
